The history of Vatican City is an interesting fabrication of the Roman Catholic faith and influence of the Pope. The Vatican City should not be confused with the Holy See, which is not a country, and existed long before 1929. The ordinances in the Holy See are published in Latin, whereas in the Vatican City, they are published in Italian. The year 1929 is a birth date of the Vatican City. The state appeared as a result of the Lateran Treaty signed by Prime Minister Benito Mussolini and the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Gasparri. But if we take the architecture, the city-state originated in the 6th century, started with the construction of the basilica of St. Peter's by Emperor Constantine. In 1377 Papacy returned to Rome and the Pope, who usually resided in the Lateral Palace in Rome, started living in the Vatican.
